Many Australians simply can't stretch their resources to cover three meals a day,
and they and their children don't regularly enjoy the comfort of a good meal.
Every year, Foodbank provides much-needed meals to the staggering 2 million
Australians who fall into this category.Last year, all but one of the necessary ingredients had been donated for a production run of our third most wanted staple food – baked beans. And the bean-counters were worried! ANZ stepped in and donated $43,000 to buy the raw beans. The result was 344,856 cans (172 tonnes) of baked beans, which helped feed thousands of hungry Australians for months. Producing these baked beans has been a great help, but the supply is now exhausted and Foodbank urgently needs to do another production run before Christmas. |
